Breaking news! GENESIS Flu & COVID-19 Antigen Duo Test Gets CE Self-Test Certification

Breakthrough for Genesis after obtaining the CE self-test certificate for the COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test.
On May 25, Hangzhou Genesis Biodetection & Biocontrol Co., Ltd. independently developed a multiple antigen test kit for home self-testing of SARS-CoV-2, influenza A (Flu A) and influenza B (Flu B)—EZERTM Flu & COVID-19 Antigen Duo Rapid Test, which has successfully acquired the CE certificate from EU(CE1434). This is another breakthrough for Genesis after obtaining the CE self-test certificate for the COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test.

Influenza (flu) and COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses, yet caused by different viruses. While COVID-19 is caused by infection with SARS-CoV-2, the flu is caused by infection with influenza viruses. People can be infected with both flu and COVID-19 simultaneously and have symptoms of both flu and COVID-19.
On March 25, 2022, researchers from the University of Edinburgh, University of Liverpool, Leiden University and Imperial College London published a paper on The Lancet: SARS-CoV-2 co-infection with influenza viruses, respiratory syncytial viruses, or adenoviruses.
The study of more than 300,000 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 found that adults infected with both the COVID-19 and the flu have a significantly increased risk of severe illness and death compared with those infected with the COVID-19 alone. Specifically, the risk of needing ventilator treatment was 4.14 times, and the risk of death was 2.35 times.
At present, many countries have begun to liberalize the social distancing policy of the COVID-19, which will lead to the simultaneous transmission of the COVID-19 and flu, increasing the chance of co-infection. The treatment of COVID-19 infection and influenza virus infection is not the same, so it is necessary to conduct flu testing at the same time with COVID-19.
Clinical signs and symptoms of respiratory viral infection due to SARS-CoV-2 and influenza can be similar, but affect people differently. Thus, the difference between them cannot be made based on symptoms alone. Testing is required to tell what the illness is and to confirm a diagnosis.

In response to the market requirements, Genesis has invested great efforts and resources to successfully develop a multiple test for SARS-CoV-2 & Influenza antigen.
